No matter what, 2013 has come and passed. We cannot turn back the clock to make that year stay so we could do something the unfinished businesses it brought us. Time waits for nobody and it leaves everything behind. The world must move on; we can only learn for the best in this life’s continuous cycle. Or we could only become bitter persons, instead. The choice must be ours for the taking.
A lot has happened in 2013. The negative ones seemed to dominate over the positive. In the country where I live, the Philippines, 2013 has given us enough to give up: War in Zamboanga, 7.2 magnitude earthquake, corruption by some of our chosen leaders in the government, territorial dispute with China, and super typhoon Haiyan (local name is Yolanda).Yet, we remained intact as a nation, and as a people. It only brought out the best in us. It showed the whole world how the human spirit could triumph over some of life’s greatest adversities.
2013, though as bad as it may seem to most of us, brought out the best in the people of the world. After super typhoon Haiyan had struck the Philippines, the world reacted positively towards the victims. Human kindness was overflowing. There was hope, love, and compassion.
Allow me to express my sincere gratitude for all your help so we could get back on our feet from the rubble where we crumpled in our darkest hour. Thank you God! Thank you world! Farewell 2013! Welcome 2014!
